Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 10, 2026
1. Introduction
Tempo ("we", "our", or "us") is a workout logging application. This Privacy Policy explains what data we access, collect, and store when you use our mobile application ("App"), how that data is used, retained, and how you can request its deletion. By using Tempo you agree to the practices described below.
2. Data We Access and Collect
2.1 Health & Fitness Data
With your explicit permission, Tempo reads from and writes to Apple Health (iOS/macOS) and Health Connect (Android). The specific Health Data types we access are:
- Weight & Height — read & write. Used to display, track, and sync your body measurements within the App.
- Exercise / Workout Sessions — read & write. Used to log and sync your completed workout sessions (type, duration, calories burned) with your device's health platform.
- Heart Rate & Vitals (Readiness Score) — read only. Used to calculate your daily Readiness Score. This includes Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Resting Heart Rate (RHR), Respiratory Rate, Blood Oxygen (SpO2), and Body/Wrist Temperature.
- Sleep Data (Readiness Score) — read only. Used to analyze your sleep duration and stages (Asleep, Deep, REM, Light, Awake) for calculating daily readiness.
- Demographics (iOS only) — read only. Accesses Gender and Birth Date to refine health baseline and calorie estimation algorithms locally.
How this data is used: Health Data is accessed solely to display your fitness metrics, compute your daily Readiness Score, and sync workout records. All calculations are performed locally on your device. We do not transmit Health Data to any external server, third-party analytics service, or advertising network.
2.2 Workout Logs & Exercise Data
Your workout logs, exercise history, templates, sets, reps, weights, rest timers, and tempo records are stored locally on your device in an on-device database. If you choose to enable cloud backup, this data is stored in your personal cloud storage (iCloud on iOS/macOS, or Google Drive on Android). We do not have access to your cloud backup data.
2.3 Body Measurements
Measurements you enter manually (weight, height, and other body metrics) are stored locally on your device and optionally synced to Apple Health or Health Connect with your permission.
2.4 Workout Photos
If you attach photos to workouts, those photos remain in your device's gallery. Tempo stores only a reference (file path) to the photo. Photos are never uploaded to any server and are only visible on your device.
2.5 Personal Information
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information. The App does not require account creation. If you use the Google Drive backup feature on Android, the app accesses your Google account email address locally solely to display the connected account status. This email address is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
2.6 Usage & Analytics Data
We do not use any analytics SDKs, crash-reporting tools, or tracking services. We do not collect or transmit usage patterns, device identifiers, or behavioral data.
3. How We Use Your Data
All data collected by Tempo is used exclusively to:
- Display your workout history, statistics, and progress within the App.
- Sync fitness data between the App and Apple Health / Health Connect on your device.
- Enable optional backup and restore through your personal iCloud (iOS/macOS) or Google Drive (Android).
- Export your data as CSV files upon your request.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or marketing purposes.
4. Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer your personal data or Health Data to any third parties, advertisers, or data brokers. Data only leaves your device in the following scenarios:
- Apple Health / Health Connect: With your explicit permission, workout and measurement data is synced with your device's health platform.
- iCloud or Google Drive Backup: If you choose to enable backup, your workout data is stored securely in your personal iCloud (iOS/macOS) or Google Drive (Android) account. The Google Drive backup uses a restricted, app-specific directory (AppData folder) that only Tempo can access, preventing access to any of your other files.
- In-App Purchases: Subscription and purchase transactions are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not see or store your payment information.
5. Data Retention
Since all data is stored locally on your device (or in your personal iCloud/Google Drive if backup is enabled), your data is retained for as long as you keep the App installed on your device. Specifically:
- On-device data: Workout logs, measurements, templates, and preferences are retained in the App's local database until you delete them within the App or uninstall the App.
- Health platform data: Data written to Apple Health or Health Connect is retained according to those platforms' own retention policies and is managed through your device's health settings.
- Cloud backup data: Backups stored in iCloud or Google Drive are retained until you delete them from your personal cloud storage.
We do not retain any data on our own servers because we do not operate any servers that store user data.
6. Data Deletion
You have full control over your data and can delete it at any time using the following methods:
- Delete individual workouts: Swipe or tap to delete any workout log from your history within the App.
- Delete individual measurements: Remove specific body measurement entries from within the App.
- Delete all App data: Uninstalling the App from your device will permanently delete all locally stored data, including workout logs, templates, measurements, preferences, and photo references.
- Delete Health platform data: To remove data that was synced to Apple Health or Health Connect, use your device's health settings (e.g., on Android: Settings → Privacy → Health Connect → Tempo → Delete data; on iOS: Health App → Browse → select data type → Show All Data → delete entries).
- Delete cloud backups: To remove backup data, delete the backup files from your iCloud Drive or manage/delete them from your Google Drive application settings.
If you need assistance deleting your data, please contact us at the email address listed below and we will provide guidance.
7. Data Security
Your data is protected by your device's built-in security features (device encryption, passcode, biometric authentication). Since we do not transmit or store your data on external servers, there is no risk of server-side data breaches from our end. Cloud backups in iCloud or Google Drive are protected by Apple's or Google's security measures, respectively.
8. Children's Privacy
Tempo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not collect any personal information, no special provisions are necessary.
9. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Tempo offers optional premium subscriptions and in-app purchases. All financial transactions are processed securely by:
- Apple App Store for iOS users.
- Google Play Store for Android users.
We do not see, process, or store your credit card, billing, or payment information. For details on how Apple or Google handle your payment data, please refer to their respective privacy policies.

11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
